The Karnataka Chief Minister Mr B.S. Yeddyurappa, said he had directed the Mysore district administration to take “necessary and quick action” to take possession of government land that stands encroached by private people.
Talking to reporters , he said it was found that as many as 350 acres of land around the city had been encroached upon. Mr Yeddyurappa said 500 acres around Chamundi Hills would be developed as Green Park.
The chief minister said the government was earnest in the development of the water tanks in the district, numbering 143, and tenders had been invited in the cases of 134 tanks.
There are 10 lakes in Mysore city and a special committee with the Deputy Commissioner as Chairman would be constituted to develop these on “scientific lines”, he said.
