The Government on Thursday announced the setting up of a Centre at Shillong in Meghalaya to facilitate access to various technologies to the North Eastern region.
The Union Cabinet, at a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, approved the setting up of the North East Centre for Technology Application and Reach (NECTAR) at Shillong, Meghalaya.
The total expenditure involved in setting up the centre will be Rs 292 crore during the 12th Plan period.
