The State Excise department has set up control rooms and tightened vigil against the manufacture and supply of spirit and spurious liquor during the Christmas-New Year season. The control rooms at district and taluk headquarters will function round the clock, an official release said.
Arrangements have also been made to keep bars, toddy shops and ayurveda outlets under observation. Border patrol units have been set up to curb cross-border smuggling of spirit and hooch, the release added. The district control room phone number is 0471-2473149. Informers' identities will be kept secret, the release added.
