A fire broke out shortly before midnight at a dyeing unit in the powerloom town of Bhiwandi, police said today.
PSI Prashant Nagtilak of Bhoiwada police station said the fire broke around 11.30 pm at Modi Dyeing Company at Dhamankar Naka.
More than a dozen fire tenders from Bhiwandi Nizampur Municipal Corporation, Thane Municipal Corporation, Ulhasnagar, Ambernath MIDC and Kalyan Dombivili Municipal Corporation were pressed into service to fight the flames which were brought under control at about 7.30 am.
There was no loss of life in the incident. Cause for the fire is said to be short-circuit. The flames engulfed the entire unit within minutes and destroyed it, the police officer said.
