The Employees Provident Fund Organisation received remittances worth Rs 5,962 crore in July, around Rs 229 crore higher than the average receipts in April-July 2013.

The retirement fund body, whose July performance was recently reviewed by Central Provident Fund Commissioner K. K Jalan, said the number of contributing members crossed four crore, as on August 17.

Similarly, the number of establishments contributing and filing returns electronically had gone up to four lakh, it said in a statement here on Friday.

Close to 11 lakh claims were settled in the month under review, over 98 per cent which were settled within 30 days, it said.

Also, after activation of the Internet-enabled grievance management system, 96 per cent of complaints registered through the portal had been disposed.

Recovery from defaulting establishments also improved, the EPFO said, adding that Rs 39.48 crore has been realised in July, which was around Rs 9 crore more than the average in April-June.
