Retail inflation came in at 9.52 per cent in August, lower than 9.64 per cent in the previous month.
The consumer price index based inflation in rural areas for August was also lower at 8.93 per cent (9.14 per cent).
It was, however, higher for urban areas at 10.32 per cent (10.18 per cent), official data released today showed.
