The Tamil Nadu Government plans to set up Rs 160 crore polymer complex to provide space for auto components manufacturers.
The Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation will set up the facility in Thiruvallur District to the North of Chennai. The complex will house over a 100 plastic auto component manufacturers and in its final form generate over 25,000 jobs. The Corporation, a State Government agency to promote industrial investments, will implement the project in partnership with private investors. This was among the announcements the Minister for Industries, Mr P. Thangamani, made in the Assembly in his reply to the debate the Industries Department.
The State Government is also set to launch a major initiative in solar energy. The Industrial Development Corporation will facilitate the establishment of a 100 MW solar power project in South Tamil Nadu. Spread over 500 acres, this project will involve investments of over Rs 1,000 crore.
The Tamil Nadu Salt Corporation will invest Rs 2 crore to set up a facility to make refined, free flow salt in Ramanathapuram. Facilities in the industrial estates promoted by the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu will be upgraded, he said.
A 10-acre truck terminal will be set up in the Oragadam industrial estate, where major automobile and auto component manufacturers have factories. The truck terminal will be set up at cost of Rs 10 crore.
Basic infrastructure like roads, water supply, drainage and street lights will be upgraded in the industrial estates in Hosur, Ranipet, Gummidipoondi, Irrungattukottai, Cuddalore, Tuticorin, Manamadurai and Pudukottai.
The State Government has earmarked Rs 25 crore in the current financial year for the 3 per cent interest subsidy on loans to small, medium and tiny industries.
