Air India today evacuated 125 stranded tourists from cyclone-hit Andaman and Nicobar Islands' Port Blair to the mainland.
About 50 tourists were flown back here, the rest to Chennai, Air India sources said, adding that all of them have been brought back in two flights.
The national carrier will fly again tomorrow to continue rescue efforts. Nearly 500 tourists, stranded on Havelock Island, were evacuated to Port Blair yesterday after Cyclone ‘Thane' passed over the Islands.
Sources in the Andaman and Nicobar Administration said the tourists had been evacuated from Havelock Island in vessels, private catamaran and helicopters.
