Mr E. S. L. Narasimhan, the Governor of Andhra Pradesh, has blamed the Information Technology industry for offering ‘vulgar’ salaries to students. “Do fresh graduates deserve such salaries? This trend has destroyed the youth,” he said.

Addressing a counselling meet organised by human resource training firm TalentSprint and the Hindu Education Plus here on Sunday, he asked the industry to let students earn with experience. Don’t sell false dreams to the students with huge salaries, he advised the industry.

The meet focussed on employment opportunities in the IT, IT-enabled services, banking and financial services industries. It discussed various issues such as qualifications, attitude, discipline and writing a good resume to be in the race.

Experts from the IT and banking industry took part in the meet that attracted good response from the technology and management schools.

Mr Sashi Reddi, Chief Executive Officer of Sri Capital; Mr Ramesh Loganathan, Managing Director of Progress Software; Mr V. Rajanna, Regional Head of TCS; and Mr Vikas Awasthi, Managing Director of FactSet Research Systems, discussed opportunities in the IT industry.

The Governor advised students to focus on studies. Those who didn’t attend colleges and complete courses were actually wasting the public resources.
