With usage of smartphones and tablets fast catching up, Adobe has begun to build solutions that let developers, designers and other multi-media users factor in the needs of customers of these high-end communication devices.

Though the company announced Creative Suite 5.5 launch last week for the Indian market, shipments would only arrive in May. The company is likely to announce a subscription model in India this year.

“We have just launched the subscription offer globally. We are contemplating to launch in India this year,” Mr Prabhjeet Singh, Country Marketing Manager of Adobe Systems India Private Ltd, said.

Flexible tools

The new suite of solutions equipped developers with flexible tools that could edit and enrich media content on these devices, offering rich media output for end users. Adobe would also soon introduce Eazel application that allowed users to draw designs using their fingers.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, he said the emergence of smartphones and tablets was changing the way content was distributed. “We generally launch products in an 18 or 24-month cycle. But keeping in view the needs of developers and firms that are targeting the smartphones and tablets, we are introducing the CS 5.5 as a midcourse launch,” he said.

While CS 5.5 Master Collection was priced at Rs 1.55 lakh, Design Premium was available for Rs 1.13 lakh, Web Premium Rs 1.07 lakh and Production Premium at Rs 1.01 lakh.

“In the South, we are targeting film production houses, creative outsourcing industry, developers and IT industry,” he said.
