Search-engine major Google, on Wednesday, displayed a colourful doodle celebrating Children’s Day.
The doodle carries the theme “India- a prism of multiplicity” and signifies India’s “Unity in Diversity”.
The creative doodle is a result of the Doodle 4 Google 2012 contest. And this year's winning doodle, displayed as the Google logo, has been created by Arun Kumar Yadav, a Class 9 student of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Chandigarh.
The Doodle 4 Google India 2012 contest invited students to design doodles using their creativity and imagination considering Google’s homepage as the canvas. This year, the search engine giant was seeking captivating and symbolic doodles that reflect India's Unity in Diversity themes.
“India has diverse cultures, religions, languages, customs and traditions. This diversity can be witnessed in enthusiasm for sports; unique folk culture; extraordinary remarkable handicrafts; wide range of flora and fauna; agricultural practices with worldwide farming output; unparalleled spices and cuisines... Such colossal diversities represent India’s oneness,” Google maintains on its Doodle 4 Google India 2012 page.
In October, Google invited enthusiastic participants between the ages of 5 and 16 years to design and create a logo.
