Union Minister for Communication and IT Ravishankar Prasad said the Centre will set up an Electronics Development Fund for start-ups shortly to encourage entrepreneurs in IT, electronics and manufacturing.
Prasad, who visited the Startup Village here on Sunday, said the Centre and angel funds would finance the new entrepreneurial ventures in these sectors through the Electronics Development Fund. The Startup Village was a good model that could be copied across the country.
He said the government’s Digital India project would in the next three years connect 2.5 lakh gram panchayats in the country with a national optical fibre network. All the panchayats in Kerala would have the national optical fibre network by the end of the current financial year. This would facilitate e-education and e-health.
