Communications and IT Minister Kapil Sibal on Friday clarified that the Government will decide the method of allocating spectrum in the future.
While the Government is going ahead with the 2G spectrum auction as per schedule, allocation in the future could be through other methods.
The clarification from the Minister comes in the wake of the opinion given by the Supreme Court on Thursday which stated that auction is not the only method to allocate natural resources.
The court, in its opinion, had kept spectrum out of it but the Department of Telecom is taking a view that this relates only to the 2G spectrum vacated after cancelling 122 licences.
