After hit severely by the Hudhud cyclone in the north coastal Andhra Pradesh, telecom companies are restoring their services in phases. While the public sector BSNL was the first to restore the services, Airtel and Vodafone have said that they are able to revive the services in some parts.
“Network to critical areas has been restored in the last 24 hours. Efforts are on to restore connectivity in the rest of the impacted areas. Inter-operator roaming has been configured with BSNL helping customers of both operators to make and receive calls,” an Airtel press release said here on Wednesday.
The firm used VSAT link to restore connectivity in some areas. It is offering an advance talktime facility that gives up to Rs 50 by simply dialling 52141.
As per Department of Telecom guidelines, the company created special SIM that will be issued without insisting on proof of identity or proof of residence.
Aircel has created a helpline (1949) where customers can get answers for queries related to the cyclone. It is free for all Aircel customers across the country.
