Telecom service provider Bharti Airtel and Opera Software have signed a global deal for providing Opera internet browser to customers.
According to the deal, Opera Software will offer customised and co-branded version of Opera Mini internet browser for Airtel mobile customers across its operations including India, South Asia and Africa.
Airtel would now be able to leverage Opera Mini’s proxy-server-based technology to compress data by up to 90 per cent and decrease their data transfer costs.
“We are confident that this association will be instrumental in helping us deliver a truly customised, enhanced and optimised browsing experience for our data users,” Mr K Srinivas, President – Consumer Business, Bharti Airtel, said in a statement.
Used by over 168 million users, Opera Mini is a popular web browser on mobile phones world wide.
