Companies need to tighten up on targeted hackings by building systems on the premise that security has been compromised, highlighted a report by Security for Business Innovation Council of RSA, the security division of US-headquartered EMC Corporation.
Discussing the report, Mr Vincent Goh, Vice-President, Asia-Pacific, RSA, said, “Earlier, companies secured the perimeter, but this is not enough anymore. If the hackers are already inside the system, perimeter security will not do anything to stop them.”
Mr Vishal Salvi, Chief Information Security Officer and Senior Vice-President, HDFC Bank, said companies need to watch out for targeted attacks. “Earlier, attacks were random but now they are targeted. Such hackers don't let go until they are successful.” He said the best way to tackle such attacks was to have firefighting drills. “You have to create an event and train the important stakeholders to take action. You have to respond quickly to mitigate the risk,” he said.
