The Attorney General has opined that the spectrum allotted to telecom companies beyond 6.2 MHz should be charged. The AG has also said that the one-time fee should be levied from July 2008.
The DoT had asked the AG’s opinion before the EGoM took a final view. The DoT had offered three options -- whether the one-time fee should be levied on all spectrum that telcos hold; should the levy be for spectrum that they hold beyond 4.4 MHz; and charging for spectrum beyond 6.2 MHz.
