Wipro Infotech, the India, West Asia and Africa IT Business unit of Wipro Ltd, has completed implementing the Employees' State Insurance Corporation's (ESIC) Project Panchdeep — a healthcare administration programme aimed at automating healthcare services.
(ESIC is a statutory corporation under the Ministry of Labour & Employment of the Indian Government and is the implementing agency of the Social Security Scheme.)
According to a press statement, the Rs 1,182-crore project provides online facilities to employers and insured people for registration, payment of premium and disbursement of cash benefits to over six crore beneficiaries country-wide.
Medical services
Project Panchdeep will allow insured people to avail themselves of medical services at any ESIC facility across India. Each day close to 75,000 people benefit from Project Panchdeep and the IT rollout has made it possible for employers to file monthly contribution, and register new employers, it said.
