Cloud computing services provider Amazon Web Services (AWS) on Monday committed to invest $8.2 billion in Maharashtra in the coming years ( 2029-30), to deploy latest technology and cloud management solutions in the country.
A team of Amazon Web Services, led by Sandeep Dutta, President India and South Asia, met Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw where they shared the plans.
“The team of Amazon Web Services met today and they explained their entire plan of investing about $8.2 billion in Maharashtra in the coming few years… and they are very optimistic about growth in India. They are bringing latest technologies, they are deploying the latest graphic processing units (GPUs) which is what they shared,” Vaishnaw said.
The company will be deploying some of the best compute facilities and the cloud management services in India, he said.
“Along with the investment there will be significant growth in employment also. Amazon web services shared that they will be adding significant number of jobs in India in the coming years,” Vaishnaw added.
The investment plans reflects AWS’s commitment to India where there is an increasing demand for cloud services led by growing digital economy and adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) across sectors.
