Bharti Infratel has posted a 12 per cent rise in net profit of Rs 277 crore on a consolidated basis in second quarter ended September 30.

The company, the tower arm of the country’s largest telecom operator Bharti Airtel, had posted a net profit of Rs 248 crore during the same quarter a year ago. “With regulatory environment in telecom sector showing signs of stabilising and data revenues witnessing strong growth, operators have started focusing on faster roll out of 3G networks. We expect this momentum to increase in coming quarters,” said Akhil Gupta, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Bharti Infratel. The company’s revenue rose 5 per cent to Rs 2,684 crore (Rs 2,556 crore), while operating profits rose 13 per cent to Rs 1,076 crore.

Its total tower base stood at 82,476 and average sharing factor at 1.93, the company said in a statement.

On the BSE, the company’s shares closed down 1.50 per cent at Rs 154.15 on Monday.
