The Dakshina Kannada district administration will soon launch an integrated transport app for Mangaluru city, Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district Sasikanth Senthil told a meeting of the regional transport authority of the district on Wednesday.
Senthil said the administration is planning to launch the app within four months. It will provide an interface for stakeholders in the sector. Users can rate bus operators, as in the case of cab aggregators. Such ratings will help in disincentivising operators with poor ratings. It will help provide a better public transport service to the citizens, he said.
The platform will also help the bus operators in smooth rollout of their initiatives. Auto rickshaws will also be part of the integrated app, he added.
Speaking at the meeting, Dilraj Alva, president of the Dakshina Kannada Bus Operators’ Association, said the association is already in the process of implementing technology solutions for providing better facilities to the public. The association has taken steps to map the city to launch a GPS-based platform.
