Subsidiary of US technology company Intel, on Tuesday, signed a Statement of Intent to create 10 laboratories to foster young minds in adaptive learning, physical computing and developing a design mindset among students.

The statement of intent was signed between Intel India and NITI Aayog to set up Atal Tinkering Laboratories (ATL) to build relevant skillset among youngsters and to provide access to technology to help create solutions for social impact, Intel said.

Ultimately, the company plans to set up 500 ATLs by March, it said.

The company said these labs intend to impact 2.50 lakh youth innovation skills and skills for the future across 500 communities and schools, and Intel will invest $15 million on building and managing these 500 ATLs.

These ATLs will include fab labs in schools and communities around the country, for children between the ges of 12 and 18 years.

The Statement of Intent was signed between Rosalind and Amitabh Kant, Chief Executive Officer, NITI Aayog.
