Reliance’s JioStar Network reported a record-breaking opening weekend for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 with a cumulative watch time of 4,956 crore minutes on JioHotstar and Star Sports Network. 

On JioHotstar, digital viewership of the first three matches was 40 per cent higher than last season, led by a 54 per cent surge in CTV consumption. During the first three matches, JioHotStar reported 137 crore views, peak concurrency of 3.4 crore, and 2,186 crore minutes of watch time.

On television, the matches drew over 25.3 crore viewers and 2,770 crore minutes of watch time - a 22 per cent surge from last year, as per BARC data. The average TVR for the first three matches was up by 39 per cent compared to the previous season.

During the IPL 2025, JioHotstar will also offer Hangout feed, that gives “quirky match commentary by new-age creators and stand-up comics.” For younger audiences and families, the platform also offers an entertainment feed, Motu Patlu Presents Super Funday. Further, it is introducing a second-screen engagement feature, that allows fans to scan a QR code to instantly access the highlight on JioHotstar, in case a person misses a crucial play.
