Autorickshaw aggregator Jugnoo claims that the demand for its services has doubled in the city following Uber’s suspension of its autorickshaw services here.

“With Jugnoo’s vast network across tier-II and III cities, this spike in demand was not unexpected. We saw this coming, but did not think it will come so soon,” said Chinmay Agarwal, Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Jugnoo.

(Uber shut down its auto operations in Coimbatore last Monday. Besides this textile hub, Uber auto operations also came to a halt in Indore (from Thursday last).

Agarwal conceded that the market dynamics have remained extremely convoluted in the last few months. ‘Registered drivers of top cab aggregating companies have given strike calls, demonstrated and held protests across the country in recent months. This has affected the auto business as well.”

But the space is poised for growth, he said, and added that Jugnoo would continue to invest in streamlining processes and consolidating the unorganised auto sector.

The Chandigarh-headquartered company offers services across 40 cities at present. It has over 12,000 autos empanelled under the brand.

Agarwal said the company is expanding across other hyper-local logistics in the B2B and B2C domains with its recently launched services including Fresh, Meals, Grocery, Menus and Jugnoo Delivery.
