“I feel very happy” said the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader, Mr M. Karunanidhi, to a question on his reaction to the news of his daughter and Rajya Sabha Member, Ms Kanimozhi, being released on bail.
While declining to comment on the court proceedings or the 2G spectrum allocation case in connection with which Ms Kanimozhiwas arrested by the CBI in May, Mr Karunanidhi expressed happiness over the Delhi High Court granting bail.
To questions on her role in the DMK in future, he said while he headed the party, he was not autocratic. Any decision on her role will be up to the party to decide democratically, he said.
But there are no immediate plans relating to her position in the party, he said.
To a question on the possibility of travelling to Delhi, he said he had no plans to go to Delhi but would wait for Ms Kanimozhi to return. There were court formalities that would have to be completed before she is able to travel to Chennai.
He had spoken to Ms Kanimozhi over the phone and both had expressed happiness over the development, he said.
