LIGA Edu Tech Pvt Ltd, a Bengaluru-based company involved in assessment and analytics for education sector, has received Series ‘A’ funding of an undisclosed amount from Gana Yantrika Systems Pvt Ltd.
LIGA, which was incubated by the Mangaluru-based i-Point Consulting Services Pvt Ltd, has also announced the acquisition of the Pune-based Learning Outcomes Pvt Ltd.
Naren Koduvattat, Director of i-Point and Chief Executive Officer of LIGA, told BusinessLine that Gana Yantrika is led by successful entrepreneurs and private equity investors — Shrikant Pandit and Anant Pandit. They had earlier created Omnesys, which was acquired by Thomson Reuters in 2013.
Without going into the details of the funding, Koduvattat said: “It is a mid-size investment.”
LIGA uses mobile apps and cloud-based services to simplify assessment processes, to analyse the results and achieve desired learning outcomes through data-based decision making. LIGA is already implemented in around 50 schools across five States, he said.
Acquisition On the utilisation of funding, he said the funding is used for the acquisition of the Pune-based Learning Outcomes and rapid scaling up the presence of the combined entity across the country.
He said LIGA has signed an all-cash deal to acquire 100 per cent stake of the Pune-based Learning Outcomes Pvt Ltd. Learning Outcomes is specialised in assessments, analytics and reporting.
He said the combined entity is present in tier-2 and -3 centres in the country. The intention is to use technology to improve the learning effectiveness across the country. The entity’s area of activity includes some of the deep areas in Karnataka and Maharashtra, he said.
With this acquisition, LIGA has become India’s most comprehensive assessment and analytics platform for schools, providing personalised insights into learning progress and remedial needs of primary and secondary school students. The combined synergies of these companies will deliver tremendous value to schools, students and parents, he added.
