Less than a week after announcing its latest tablet - Nexus 9 - Google has now announced the pricing for the Android tablet on its Play Store.

The new Nexus 9 was announced on October 16, a day before Apple’s iPad Air 2 was unveiled. The Play Store for Google India has now started showing the ‘Coming Soon’ sign for the Nexus 9, and two variants have been listed.

The 16GB WiFi-only model has been priced at ₹28,900 . The WiFi and LTE model for 16GB hasn’t popped up yet, nor has the WiFi-only model for 32GB. The 32GB model with both WiFi and LTE, however, has been announced at ₹44,900 . An official leather case has also been listed at ₹2,900.

While it may not have the slim profile to take on Apple’s new iPad Air 2, Google has packed the new Nexus 9 with an NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor, 2GB RAM, and the latest version of its Android, 5.0 Lollipop to give a fluidic and smooth experience.

The 8.9-inch IPS display will come with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels, to rival that of the iPad Air 2’s. Other specifications include an 8MP rear camera with f/2.4 aperture and a front camera with 1.6MP resolution, and a big 6,700mAh battery.

While Android devices as a whole dominate the tablet market, Apple remains the single largest vendor with its line of iPads. The new Nexus 9, manufactured by HTC for Google, will be the latter’s biggest tablet in the lineup. Exact dates of availability aren’t available as of now.
