Samsung India Electronics has prepared itself to play the pricing and innovation game in India’s mobile phone market with the launch of three 4G-enabled smartphones under the Galaxy brand, starting at ₹9,900.

The global electronics maker unveiled Galaxy Grand Prime, Galaxy Core Prime and Galaxy J1 with dual SIM capability, LTE technology and an internet download speed booster of up to 150 Mbps.

These phones will hit mobile stores in the second week of March.

With this launch, Samsung now has a spectrum of nine 4G devices across segments. In an attempt to catch up with the losing grip on its market share in the smartphone market, Samsung is betting on the LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology and the upcoming 4{+t}{+h} generation mobile services in India.

Declining market share In India, the October to December quarter 2014 showed that Micromax surpassed Samsung’s 20 per cent market share with 22 per cent share in smartphones shipments to India, which is one of the world’s largest markets, according to data by research firm Canalys.

“In 2015, we plan to introduce path-breaking technology across different categories of products, which will enhance consumer experience and strengthen our position in the market…As a company we are committed to ‘Make for India’,” HyunChil Hong, President and CEO, Samsung India Electronics said at the Samsung South-West Asia Forum 2015.

In addition, Samsung also launched its slimmest Galaxy A7 smartphone measuring 6.3 mm sporting a metal body and dual Sim capability with full HD super AMOLED display for better colour view and greater clarity including a “superior selfie experience”.

The phone has a 13-megapixel-camera with auto-selfie modes – palm and voice selfie, 16 GB memory, 2G RAM supported by 2,600 mAh battery in Pearl white, Midnight black and Champagne gold colours.

Priced at ₹30,499, Galaxy A7 is has been made available in India from February 16.

Consumer electronics Samsung India Electronics also introduced an extensive range of SUHD (Samsung Ultra High Definition) TVs to set a new standard in premium Ultra HD content enhancing the “viewer experience to new heights” in a curve with 2.5 times brighter and 64 times colour expression.

It also launched its new curved sound bar audio product with multi room functionality and wireless connectivity as Series 8 and 6. Among other products, Samsung launched a smart convertible refrigerator with flexibility to convert the freezer into a fridge and vice versa, a single-user mode air conditioner with less electricity consumption, more durability and enhanced operating capacity and Samsung Active dual wash washing machines in 9 and 11 kg capacities with built-in sink, magic dispenser and less noisier, all with a 10-year warranty.
