Eyeing the premium smartphone segment, Nokia India has made its new flagship model Lumia 1020 available in stores across the country for Rs 49,999.

The Nokia Lumia 1020, which was officially announced globally in July, is touted to be one of the best mobile imaging devices with advanced camera technology.

41 megapixel sensor

The Lumia 1020 packs the second generation of PureView technology and 41 megapixel sensor (the first was on the Nokia PureView 808). Apart from the resolution, the camera also features ZEISS optics with six lenses, xenon flash and optical image stabilisation. It also features imaging apps such as Pro Cam, which let the users control camera features like aperture, shutter speed, white balance etc just as they would on a standalone digital camera.

The device will be available in yellow, white and black, and Nokia India is offering an early bird offer with complimentary premium apps worth Rs 1,000. As the device is aimed at offering users professional imaging experience, Nokia has also announced the Nokia Camera Grip, which complements the device with stand-alone-camera-like features that include shutter and zoom controls.

The Camera Grip is priced at Rs 7,499 while additional snap-on wireless charging shells in various colours will be available for Rs 3,199.

Insurance cover

This high-end device will also be offered with a year-long complimentary insurance cover, in association with New India Assurance. Consumers will also have the option of purchasing the device with an easy six-month EMI payment plans through select banks.

At this price segment, the Nokia Lumia 1020 is expected to take on the iPhone 5S, which is soon to be released in India. The Lumia 1020 is the most-expensive Windows Phone 8 available in the market as of now – more expensive than HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4, and BlackBerry’s Q10.
