Technology solutions company Oracle has opened a marketplace in the cloud, allowing its partners to put up on sale the applications they make for enterprises.

Just like the app stores you see for Android, iOS and Microsoft's operating systems for consumers, Oracle's Cloud MarketPlace showcases both featured (for subscription) and free apps by Oracle's Partner Network programme members from across the world targeted at businesses.

The marketplace was launched at the Oracle's annual Open World 2013 conference being held here for the last three days. The apps that are on offer include MakesBridge, a mass email and social broadcast service. The apps are broadly divided into marketing and sales categories.

Featuring more than 100 business applications, the marketplace helps cloud customers easily browse, evaluate, and buy trusted business applications.

Cloud platform

Leveraging Oracle Cloud Platform Services, Oracle partners can quickly build applications, extend and integrate with its service-as-a-platform applications and publish their applications on the marketplace.

Steve Miranda, Executive Vice-President of Applications Development of Oracle, said the market was designed to help organisations easily purchase the applications they need to reach their business goals.

Applications are listed along with details to help customers understand its utility and how relevant and useful they are for their organisations. User ratings and reviews would determine their value for their organisations, including user ratings and reviews.

Helping Oracle partners leverage the latest in cloud technologies to grow their businesses, the Oracle Cloud Marketplace enables partners easily develop, integrate, publish, and monetise their applications.
