Widely believed to be the iPad killer, the Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1 will be available in India by the end of this month. Samsung announced the launch plans on Wednesday but the tablet will be sold as Samsung Galaxy 750.

Samsung Galaxy 750 is an Android 3.1 based tablet with a 10.1-inch screen and is priced at Rs 36,200.

The launch in India comes even as a German court ordered Samsung to stop sales of the 10.1 inch screen tablet in the whole of Europe except the Netherlands. The order was based on a plea by rival Apple which has alleged patent violation by Samsung. A similar order has also been passed in Australia.

Compared to iPad 2, Samsung’s new tab is lighter and also has the tag of the world's thinnest tablet at 8.6 inches - 0.2-inches thinner than the Apple tab. Apple is reported to have accused Samsung of copying its design, an allegation denied by the Korean company.

Samsung also announced the launch of another Android tablet in India – Galaxy 730 - which is called Galaxy 8.9 in other markets. The smaller Galaxy 730 tab has an 8.9-inch screen with the same operating system as the 10.1. The company has priced Galaxy Tab 730 at Rs 33,990.

Other specifications of the tablets are the same, such as 16 GB on internal storage, 1 GB RAM, and 1 Ghz processor. While the Galaxy 750 features a 7,000 mAh battery, the latter 8.9-inch tablet comes with a 6,100 mAh battery.

The tablets will come with a My Reader application that will provide the users access to 17 newspapers, 17 magazines, and 30,000 Indian language books. With the preloaded Mobile TV, users can enjoy up to 55 Indian channels as well.

Samsung has also tied up with Vodafone to offer 3G data usage up to 2GB/month for six months at Rs 3,000 for Galaxy Tab 750/730 owners. The company has announced that Galaxy Tab 750 will be available by the end of this month, while Tab 730 will come around mid-September.
