Online marketplace Snapdeal said its revenue on from the ‘Electronics Monday sale’ saw an increase of 17x and that it was on track to achieve $100-million sales. The sale started at midnight of October 11/12 and will end at midnight of October 12/13.

The company said it has grown four times in the mobile category as compared to Diwali last year, with five mobile phones sold every second.

In the large appliances category, air-conditioners and washing machines were the top selling products while in the small appliances category geysers were the toppers. In the mobile phone category, brands like Xiaomi, Micromax, Yu, Samsung and Apple were the most popular. Power banks and cameras were among the top selling categories, the company added. Bangalore and Delhi, followed by Hyderabad and Chennai, registered the highest surge in order volumes.

“The tremendous support from our sellers enabled us to provide attractive deals and discounts which resulted in this phenomenal response we have received today. We are well on track to reach $100 million sales on our Electronics Monday sale,” said Rahul Taneja, Vice President - Category Management, Snapdeal.

Flipkart, in its second edition of ‘Big Billion Sale’ from midnight of Tuesday to October 17, is doing an app-only event.
