Crude oil futures prices dipped 1.32 per cent to Rs 6,963 per barrel today, as speculators trimmed their positions at prevailing levels amid a weak trend in the Asian trade as fears of a possible US-led strike on Syria eased.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in September fell Rs 93 or 1.32 per cent to Rs 6,963 per barrel in 3,196 lots. Similarly, the oil for October delivery moved down by Rs 91 or 1.29 per cent to Rs 6,970 per barrel in 334 lots.
Analysts said the trading sentiment eased at the futures trade as crude oil prices fell in Asian trade as fears of a possible attack on Syria for its alleged use of chemical weapons eased.
Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude for October delivery dipped 90 cents to $108.62 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange in mid-morning trade today.
