With restricted trading in the market, prices of non-basmati varieties dropped, while aromatic varieties managed to maintain their previous quoted levels on Wednesday.
With not much support from the overseas and domestic buyers, aromatic varieties are ruling lower, said Mr Amit Chandna, proprietor of Hanuman Rice Trading Company. Trade is badly affected by the credit sales, he added.
According to the market sources, around Rs 2,000 crore is pending from Iran and Iraq for rice traders and exporters. Pusa-1121(steam) remained unchanged, ruling flat since June 6, and quoted at Rs 5,000 a quintal; Pusa-1121(sela) ruled around Rs 4,000, while Pusa-1121(raw) was trading at Rs 4,600 a quintal.
Prices of duplicate basmati quoted at Rs 3,500-3,600 a quintal. Pure Basmati (Raw) ruled at Rs 6,500 a quintal.
Prices for the brokens of Pusa 1121, Tibar was quoted at Rs 3,100-3,300, Dubar quoted at Rs 2,500-2,630 and Mongra was at Rs 1,900-2,130. On the other hand, with not much trading in the market, prices of non-basmati varieties declined by Rs 15-50 a quintal.
Prices of Sharbati varieties dropped by Rs 35-50, Sharbati (steam) quoted at Rs 3,000-3,050, while the Sharbati (Sela) ruled between Rs 2,800 and Rs 2,865 a quintal.
