Good demand for high bulk density (HBD) was in the pepper market as selected buyers were looking for it at a premium price. But its availability is tight, market sources told Business Line on Monday. On the terminal market 14 tonnes were traded today. Of these 4 tonnes of high range pepper were traded at ₹415 a kg while 10 tonnes of imported pepper were traded at ₹390-400 a kg. Spot prices dropped further by ₹100 a quintal to close at ₹40,600 (ungarbled) and ₹42,600 (garbled) a quintal. Indian export prices were at $6,800 a tonne c&f for Europe and Rs7,050 for the US.
