Rise in supply of new pepper has pulled down the spot pepper prices further on Monday. On the terminal market, 21 tonnes were traded. Pepper from the plains of Kottayam district fetched ₹410 a kg, while that from Pulpally and Bathery in Wayanad district ruled at ₹415. High Ranges pepper went for ₹420. Spot pepper lost ₹300 a quintal at ₹41,300 (ungarbled) and ₹43,300 (garbled). Export prices were at $7,025 a tonne c&f for Europe and $7,275 for the US.
