With trading being lukewarm, prices of aromatic and non-basmati rice ruled flat on Thursday.
The market has not seen any change in prices since last weekend and it’s unlikely to see any major alteration in the next couple of days too, said Amit Chandna, Proprietor, Hanuman Rice Trading Company.
Rice millers are expecting that prices may marginally increase further, hence, they are holding on to their stocks, resulting in low availability of good quality stocks.
Traders expect the market to witness some alteration next week, said Amit Chandna.
Stronger rupee, expensive transportation and a stiff competition from Pakistan and Vietnam are hurting rice exports.
