Tea prices hit 9-month high at Coonoor auctions

As much as 95 per cent of 10.11 lakh kg offered for Sale No: 48 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association was sold despite the average price rising to nine-month high level of ₹102.74 a kg from previous week’s ₹101.13 due to increased demand from upcountry buyers.

Homedale Estate’s Red Dust, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the Dust grade and the entire CTC market when Antony Tea Traders bought it for ₹222 a kg.

Vigneshwar Speciality’s Pekoe Dust, auctioned by Paramount Tea Marketing, came next at ₹211.

Homedale Estate’s Broken Orange Pekoe, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the Leaf auctions at ₹216, while Homedale Estate’s Broken Orange Pekoe Fannings, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, came next at ₹206.

Vigneshwar Speciality’s Broken Orange Pekoe Fannings, auctioned by Paramount Tea Marketing, fetched ₹205.

In the orthodox market, Chamraj topped at ₹251 a kg, followed by Kodanad ₹243, Kairbetta ₹232 and Havukal ₹231.
