Gold prices fell nearly 1 per cent to Rs 31,294 per ten grams at the futures trade today as speculators offloaded their positions on weak global cues.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in October fell Rs 294 or 0.91 per cent to Rs 31,924 per ten grams in a business turnover of 3,142 lots. Similarly, gold for December contract traded lower by Rs 279 or 0.86 per cent to Rs 32,011 per ten grams in 117 lots.
Meanwhile, the yellow metal fell $23.90 to $1,367.70 dollar an ounce in New York last night.
