Gold futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange opened higher at Rs 30,073 per 10 grams against Saturday's close of Rs 30,032.
In Comex, it was trading at $1,622 a troy ounce.
Gold may trade on the higher side taking cues from global markets. If rupee appreciates, then gains in gold prices will be limited in India.
In MCX platform, the October contract may trade in a range between Rs 30,070 and Rs 30,200.
