Metal and public sector bank stocks extended their gains on the NSE by the close on Wednesday.
At 3.40 pm Bank of Baroda shot up into the lead. It surged 9.11 per cent to trade at ₹957.85, as against its previous close of ₹877.85. The bank yesterday said net profit in the fourth quarter had risen by 12 per cent on lower provisioning and higher income.
Jindal Steel also advanced to hold gains of 6.47 per cent. It was quoting at ₹261.55 as against ₹245.65 at close yesterday.
Tata Steel made further gains to quote at ₹452.35, up 5.91 per cent on its earlier close of ₹427.10.
DLF resumed its recent uptrend to trade at ₹160.60. This represented a 5.42 per cent gain on yesterday’s close of ₹152.35.
NMDC rose further, posting gains of 4.91 per cent to quote at ₹159.20. The stock had closed Tuesday’s session at ₹151.75.
