Agri-related stocks today gained on government’s new initiatives.
Jain Irrigation Systems surged 3.1 per cent, Kaveri Seed rose 2 per cent and Monsanto India gained 1.9 per cent.
Also, Dhanuka Agritech rose 3 per cent, and Advanta Ltd rallied 6 per cent.
Jain Irrigation was among the top gainers in BSE large-caps.
The Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley, has said that the government will spend Rs 50,000 crore ($7.87 billion) over 5 years on new irrigation scheme for farmers, according to CNBC TV.
