Asian stocks rose on Thursday taking cues from overnight gains in the Wall Street. Commodity and consumer related sectors drove the market sentiment. Also, euro's rally above $1.41 brought some investors back into the market in search of bargains.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 rose 112.87 points or 1.2 per cent to 9,535.75. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng gained 110.43 points or 0.49 per cent to 22,857.71. Singapore’s Straits Times was down 3.68 points or 0.12 per cent at 3,114.97. South Korea’s Kospi jumped 49.05 points or 2.41 per cent to 2,084.92.
Australia’s S&P/Asx 200 rose 57 points or 1.24 per cent to 4,641.70. China’s Shanghai Composite was up 11.87 points or 0.43 per cent at 2,753.61. Taiwan’s Taiex climbed 77.75 points or 0.89 per cent to 8,804.84.
