Bank stocks plunged on selling pressure ahead of the settlement expiry with Axis Bank, ICICI Bank and SBI bearing the brunt among the Bankex stocks on the BSE.
Axis Bank lost Rs 42.80 to Rs 1,137.50 and ICICI Bank was down by Rs 34.30 at Rs 876.70. SBI shed Rs 37.45 at Rs 2,127.80.
PNB, which lost Rs 21.05 to trade at Rs 929, YES Bank, down by Rs 13.30 at Rs 358.40 and Canara Bank that shed Rs 12.25 at Rs 450.90 were the other major losers.
Barring Kotak Mahindra Bank, which gained Rs 8.25 to trade at Rs 533, all the other Bankex stocks were down, but their losses were negligible.
