Maruti looked up in the stock exchanges today with the share gaining 2.05 per cent to trade around Rs 1,099.50 on the NSE this morning.

The latest round of workers' strike at Maruti Suzuki's Manesar facility has been called off on Friday, with the workers now expected to resume work from Saturday onwards, sources close to the development said.

BHEL, however, was the top gainer with the scrip up by about 2.12 per cent to trade at Rs 324.55.

However, among the major losers were many players in the metal sector including Tata Steel and Jindal Steel, and surprisingly, software giant Infosys.

Two-wheeler majors Bajaj Auto and Hero Motocorp were both among the top Nifty gainers. While Bajaj Auto was trading higher at Rs 1,641.50 (up 1.73 per cent), Hero Motocorp was trading at Rs 2,055, an increase of 1.23 per cent. Other gainers were Dr. Reddy, L&T, Sun Pharma, SBI, HCL Tech and TCS.

Among the top losers were Cairn, which was down 2.32 per cent at Rs 286.75, Hindalco trading at Rs 123.65 (-0.84 per cent), Tata Steel at Rs 438.50 (-0.7 per cent) and Jindal Steel at Rs 535.10 (-0.47 per cent). Infosys, which was gaining when the other software biggies were falling in weak markets, however made it to the losers’ list today shedding 0.67 per cent to trade at Rs 2,729.15.
