Metal stocks continued to rally on the bourses in late trading on Wednesday. At 3.40 pm Hindalco Industries was the top gainer on the NSE. It was trading at Rs 152.40, representing a gain of 4.06 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 146.45.
Cairn India was firm but off its morning highs in late session. It was trading at Rs 253.85, up 3.46 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 245.35.
Tata Power traded up 3.15 per cent at Rs 90.10 as against Rs 87.35 at close yesterday.
Sesa Sterlite edged up further to hold gains of 2.80 per cent at Rs 216.60 as against Rs 210.70 at close on Friday.
Coal India was trading at Rs 366.05. This was a gain of 2.64 per cent on its previous close at Rs 356.65.
The benchmark indices the BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty recovered to trade in mildly positive territory ahead of the close. In a choppy session, the Sensex gained 30 points to reclaim the 29,000-level, while the Nifty was hovering around the 8,760 level.
