Shares of state-run oil refiners rose on a hike in petrol prices.
In early trade, Indian Oil Corp climbed as much as 1.52 per cent, Bharat Petroleum Corp gained as much as 1.42 per cent, while Hindustan Petroleum Corp rose as much as 1.14 per cent.
At about 9.40 am, the IOC stock was up 0.68 per cent or Rs 2.20 at Rs 327.85, BPCL was up 1.43 per cent or Rs 9.05 at Rs 643.60 and HPCL was trading higher by 1.08 per cent or Rs 4.75 at Rs 445.95.
Petrol prices were raised by Rs 1.29 /litre, while diesel prices were raised by Rs 0.97/litre yesterday.
