Solar power stocks jumped as a government body has proposed 70 per cent duty on import of solar cells.
Solar cells are “being imported into India in such increased quantities and under such conditions so as to cause or threaten to cause serious injury” to domestic manufacturers, says a report by the Directorate General of Safeguards , which is a part of the Central Board of Excise and Customs.
Websol Energy System Ltd climbed as much as 11.1 per cent to Rs 167, its highest since April 15, 2010. Indosolar Ltd gained 3.4 per cent, while Ujaas Energy Ltd was up 2 per cent.
