Tata Motors scrip today fell by over 2 per cent after its global sales in September showed a decline on account of lower passenger vehicle sales.

Shares of the company fell by 2.37 per cent to Rs 262.95 on the BSE. At NSE, the scrip plunged 2.43 per cent to Rs 263.

The scrip was the biggest loser among the Sensex’s 30 blue-chip stocks during morning trade.

Tata Motors said yesterday that its global sales declined 4 per cent in September to 1,03,656 units over the same month last year.

Sales of luxury brands from Jaguar Land Rover were at 26,461 units in September, down 4 per cent from the same month last year.

While sales of luxury sedans of the Jaguar brand stood at 2,808 units last month, Land Rover sales were at 23,653 units, Tata Motors had said yesterday.

In the broader market, the BSE Sensex was trading at 18,737.28, up 23.73 points at 1143 hrs.
