Canara Bank will open over 1,250 branches and over 3,700 ATMs in the next two years.
The bank’s chairman and managing director, R.K. Dubey, said that the bank will reach 6,000 plus branches and 10,000 plus ATMs in the next two years.
He was addressing shareholders at the annual general meeting held at Bangalore yesterday. The bank currently has 4,755 branches and 6,312 ATMs. It added 1,027 branches last year, the second highest expansion among banks in the industry. The bank also added 2,786 ATMs during the last year.
Dubey said that the bank has approval from the RBI to expand in 8 international locations including Dubai, Qatar, Germany, Brazil, Tanzania, Japan, Nigeria and Saudi Arabia. The bank’s overseas operations currently cover six countries with two branches in UK, one each in Hong Kong,Shanghai, Bahrain and a representative office in Sharjah.
In the last two months, the bank has added a branch in Johannesburg in South Africa and another branch at New York, USA.
